No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by adding certain energy codes, energy and water conservation design standards, and high performance building standards to the list of exceptions allowed by statute relating to the regulation of  building materials and methods by a national model code.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code by imposing certain requirements on the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) relating to amending or adopting the energy efficiency chapter of the International Residential Code.

It is assumed any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
