A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to scholarships and grants awarded by public institutions |
|
|
of higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 51.3525, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d-1) This section does not apply to scholarships or grants |
|
|
an institution of higher education awards to students that are paid |
|
|
for only with money or endowments the institution receives from a |
|
|
private source. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
