A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual report published by the Texas Education |
|
|
Agency regarding public school campus closures. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 7, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 7.042 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 7.042. ANNUAL REPORT REGARDING PUBLIC SCHOOL CAMPUS |
|
|
CLOSURES. (a) Not later than January 31 of each year, the agency |
|
|
shall prepare and publish on the agency's publicly available |
|
|
Internet website an annual report regarding school district and |
|
|
open-enrollment charter school campus closures. The report must |
|
|
include, for the preceding calendar year, the number of campuses |
|
|
that have closed, disaggregated by the grade levels served by the |
|
|
campus, including elementary, middle, junior high, or high school. |
|
|
(b) The agency shall submit the report described by |
|
|
Subsection (a) to: |
|
|
(1) the governor; |
|
|
(2) the lieutenant governor; |
|
|
(3) the speaker of the house of representatives; and |
|
|
(4) each member of the legislature. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
