R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Corey Dauphine, a senior at Memorial High School in |
|
|
Port Arthur, has excelled as a high school athlete, and he is indeed |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for his notable accomplishments; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A four-year letterman on the Memorial High School |
|
|
track and field squad, Mr. Dauphine has distinguished himself as a |
|
|
champion runner in district, area, regional, and state |
|
|
competitions; he won the gold medal in the 200-meter dash at the |
|
|
2014 University Interscholastic League state meet, clocking the |
|
|
fastest time of the year among U.S. high school runners; he has also |
|
|
competed in the state meet as a member of Titan relay teams, making |
|
|
his first appearance at the event as a freshman; moreover, he was |
|
|
invited to take part in the Great Southwest Track & Field Classic |
|
|
and was named the 2014 Super Gold Track & Field MVP by the Beaumont |
|
|
Enterprise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This multitalented Texan is also a standout running |
|
|
back on the Titans' football team, and he tallied 11 touchdowns and |
|
|
1,232 yards rushing during his outstanding senior campaign; highly |
|
|
recruited for his work on the gridiron, Mr. Dauphine will continue |
|
|
his athletic career at the collegiate level in the fall as a member |
|
|
of the football team at Texas Tech University, where he plans to |
|
|
study veterinary medicine; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A source of great pride to his family and his school, |
|
|
Corey Dauphine has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and |
|
|
maturity in pursuing his goals, and it is a privilege to commend him |
|
|
for his achievements as he prepares for the opportunities that lie |
|
|
ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Corey Dauphine on his success as a |
|
|
student-athlete and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Dauphine as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
