R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kristi Leff of Humphrey's Highland Elementary |
|
|
School in the Amarillo Independent School District was named the |
|
|
2025 Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association |
|
|
of School Administrators; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since 1969, the Texas Teacher of the Year program |
|
|
has recognized and rewarded faculty members who have demonstrated |
|
|
an outstanding commitment to classroom education and whose efforts |
|
|
and example have inspired their students, their colleagues, and the |
|
|
communities they serve; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Leff has enjoyed a rewarding career in education |
|
|
that has spanned more than two decades; she taught at schools in |
|
|
Florida as well as in the Calallen and Mathis Independent School |
|
|
Districts, and she joined Humphrey's Highland Elementary in |
|
|
Amarillo ISD in 2015; she currently teaches fifth-grade classes in |
|
|
science and English/language arts, and over the course of her |
|
|
tenure, she has worked tirelessly to foster an engaging and |
|
|
inclusive learning environment; she has further distinguished |
|
|
herself as a trusted mentor to her colleagues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in her professional community, Ms. Leff is a |
|
|
member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association and the National |
|
|
Science Teachers Association, and she has participated in a number |
|
|
of state and national education conferences and workshops; among |
|
|
her many achievements, she has been named Campus Teacher of the Year |
|
|
three times, and she was recognized as a Master Teacher by the Texas |
|
|
Education Agency; she holds an associate's degree in education from |
|
|
Brevard Community College, a bachelor's degree in elementary |
|
|
education from Rollins College, and a master's degree in special |
|
|
education from Lamar University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her exceptional dedication, Kristi Leff has |
|
|
helped countless young Texans gain the confidence they need to |
|
|
realize their full potential both in and outside the classroom, and |
|
|
she is indeed deserving of this prestigious accolade; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Kristi Leff on her selection as the 2025 |
|
|
Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Leff as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
