Fiscal Analysis
This bill would require the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to compensate eligible peace officers according to Schedule C of the position classification schedule in the General Appropriations Act.
Methodology
According
to TCOLE, the agency currently employs 25.0 full-time-equivalent (FTE) positions
that would be impacted by the provisions of the bill. They indicate that 18.0
FTEs are currently classified on Schedule B as Investigator VI positions that
would require $177,510 per fiscal year to be compensated under their Schedule C
equivalent, Sergeant, C4; 1.0 FTE is currently classified on Schedule B as an
Investigator VII position that would require $5,600 per fiscal year to be
compensated under their Schedule C equivalent, Lieutenant, C5; 4.0 FTEs are
currently classified on Schedule B as Program Supervisor VII positions that
would require $118,400 per fiscal year to be compensated under their Schedule C
equivalent, Captain, C6; and 2.0 FTEs are currently classified on Schedule B as
Director II positions that would require $35,500 per fiscal year to be
compensated under their Schedule C equivalent, Major, C8.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
