IN RE:	HB161 by Dutton (Relating to the child support obligation of an obligor during the obligor's confinement in jail or prison.), As Introduced

The bill would amend the Family Code to prohibit a court from holding a respondent in contempt of court for failure to pay child support under certain circumstances of confinement or for lack of sufficient resources to comply with the child support order during confinement. 

According to information provided by the Office of the Attorney General and Office of Court Administration, any costs associated with the implementation of the bill would be absorbed within existing agency resources.
