R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Amber Michelle Randall was honored for her |
|
|
achievements at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on |
|
|
April 18, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|
|
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|
|
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|
|
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|
|
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Amber Randall is the daughter of Kenneth and |
|
|
Patricia Randall and an eighth-grade student at Lamar Fleming |
|
|
Middle School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Randall is on the honor roll, the student |
|
|
council, and the youth council, and she is a member of the Honor |
|
|
Society and the Girl Scouts; a multitalented student, she has |
|
|
received an award for her abilities in math and science and won |
|
|
first place in a University Interscholastic League music |
|
|
competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, |
|
|
Ms. Randall is the youth news editor for the congregation |
|
|
newsletter and participates in numerous church programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|
|
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|
|
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|
|
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Amber Michelle Randall on being |
|
|
named a 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship |
|
|
Luncheon and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in all of her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Randall as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
