| WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced | ||
| by a great and enduring love, Gladys and George Picha of Waco | ||
| celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 26, 2007; and | ||
| WHEREAS, George Picha and the former Gladys Pustejovsky were | ||
| united in matrimony at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church | ||
| in Abbott on that special day in 1957; they are the parents of five | ||
| children, Janet, David, Dale, Julie, and the late Donald Picha, and | ||
| they have shared in welcoming into their family seven | ||
| grandchildren, Brad, Brian, Hillary, Joshua, Mary Katherine, | ||
| Sarah, and Thomas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Picha answered his nation's call to duty with | ||
| service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked for the | ||
| United States Postal Service for 37 years; now retired, he enjoys | ||
| woodworking, fishing, and gardening; also an avid gardener, Mrs. | ||
| Picha belongs to the Waco Herb Society; the couple are both members | ||
| of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Pro-Life Waco organization, | ||
| and they also enjoy traveling; and | ||
| WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past | ||
| half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant | ||
| in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love | ||
| has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Gladys and George Picha on reaching | ||
| this milestone in their lives together and extend to them sincere | ||
| best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Picha as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
