R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Theater students at Stephen F. Austin High School in
  Austin captured the University Interscholastic League Conference
  5A state championship at the 83rd Annual State One-Act Play
  Competition on May 16, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1927, the UIL's One-Act Play contest is
  the largest high school play production competition in the world;
  every year, more than 14,000 high school students in over 1,000
  plays participate in 300 contests across the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, After a triumph at the regional competition, the
  Austin High Red Dragon Players advanced to state for the third
  consecutive year; their production of Over the River and Through
  the Woods, a comedy by Joe DiPietro, was one of just eight out of a
  total of 255 plays in their division that were selected to compete
  at the state level; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to the victory of the cast and crew
  overall, Jack Kyser, Brian Schwartz, and Cora Walters were named to
  the all-star cast, Haleigh Holt was named best actress, and
  Mitchell Stephens was named to the honorable mention all-star cast;
  the Red Dragon Players were skillfully directed by Tommy Grubbs and
  by Billy Dragoo, who has previously led one-act play groups to state
  four times; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the culmination of
  countless hours of hard work and dedication, and these talented
  students will carry the memory of this accomplishment with them for
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Red Dragon Players of Stephen
  F. Austin High School on winning the 2009 UIL Conference 5A State
  One-Act Play Competition and extend to all those involved with the
  production sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Red Dragon Players as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
